Local Voting Information

Please Note: the Town Hall remains closed to the public, however voter registration forms and emergency mail ballot applications for the November Election are available outside the Town Hall; completed forms may be placed in the white drop box at the entrance to the building. Voted Mail Ballots for the General Election may be placed in the Official Mail Ballot Drop Box at the entrance to Town Hall until 8 P.M. on Tuesday, November 3rd. 

Deadline to Register to Vote & Apply for a Mail Ballot for the General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020

Sunday, October 4, 2020 was the last date to register to vote for the General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Citizens who register to vote past that deadline will be able to vote for President and Vice President only at Town Hall on Election Day.

VOTING BY MAIL BALLOT

Voted Mail Ballots can be placed in the Official Mail Ballot Drop Box located in front of Town Hall up until 8 P.M. on Election Day. If you applied for a mail ballot and then decide to go vote in person on Election Day, you will only be allowed to vote by provisional ballot, not by placing your ballot in the voting machine. The Board of Canvassers must determine whether to certify or disqualify your ballot after the election, once the RI Board of Elections has processed all mail ballots.

VOTING IN PERSON BY EMERGENCY BALLOT

The last day for in person emergency voting for the General Election will be Monday, November 2nd from 8:30am until 4:00pm at the Town Hall in the Communications Building, 180 High Street, Wakefield. Voters are required to present identification and wear a mask.

VOTING ON ELECTION DAY

Polls will be open on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 7 AM to 8 PM. Identification and a mask are required. Some polling locations have changed, please check the Voting Districts Map for more information.
