The Animal Control Officers work out of the South Kingstown Public Safety Building. Animal Control's mission is to enforce all Town and State Laws pertaining to domestic animals and to ensure that all animals in the Town of South Kingstown are treated humanely. Public/Humane education in regard to the proper treatment and care of animals plays a large role in helping to ensure animals are properly cared for. Animal Control Officers are also a first responder to calls concerning possible rabid animals. Animal Control handles 1,400-1,500 complaints a year. The South Kingstown Police Department has 1 full time Animal Control Officer and 2 part-time Animal Control Officers. The ACOs work closely with the Town's Animal Shelter.
