Each of the South Kingstown Public Library locations offers Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service to borrowers holding a valid Ocean State Libraries (OSL) card. Books or other items not found in the Ocean State Libraries catalog may be requested from outside the OSL system. Reference staff at all three locations are available to help with these requests. Interlibrary loans circulate for three weeks, with no renewal, and are subject to normal fines and fees if overdue or lost.
The Library makes every effort to locate items within Rhode Island. If a Rhode Island non-OSL library fills the ILL request, there is no charge to the borrower. When an item is only available from out of state, a return postage fee of $3.00 is required. This fee will be collected at the time the item is checked out. Patrons who fail to pick up out-of-state interlibrary loans are still responsible for the postage fee.
Availability and use of items requested from non-OSL libraries is dependent on the owning library's policies.
South Kingstown Public Library's circulating materials are available for interlibrary loan. Reference, historical, and library-use-only materials do not circulate.
