Hydrilla Kiosk

1. Front Page News Posted on March 10, 2026

The Town is pleased to share that the Facilities Department has completed installation of a new hydrilla education sign and kiosk.

The kiosk and signage help raise awareness about hydrilla, an invasive aquatic plant that can harm local waterways, and provide important information to visitors on how they can help prevent its spread.

Once it takes hold, hydrilla is very difficult to control, just a one-inch piece of this plant can multiply and eventually take over an entire waterbody.

Together we can prevent hydrilla from clogging our waterways and protect healthy, resilent aquatic ecosystems across our Wild and Scenic Rivers and tributaries.

How you can help:

This project was made possible thanks to the support of the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) and funding from the Wood-Pawcatuck Wild and Scenic Rivers Stewardship Council. Their grant helped bring this important educational resource to the community.
