May 1, 2025 Update

Martone Construction Company has been hard at work throughout April 2025.  They have provided the architect with product submittals, updated schedules, and other necessary paperwork for the project.  In March their site subcontractor Nunes Construction started stripping the site of loam and excavating for the foundation.  The soils were compacted and the foundation walls were formed and poured during the month of April.  The foundation walls have now been inspected and backfilled and are ready to serve as a solid base for the building structure.

Ground Breaking Ceremony Is a Success!

On Friday, April 25, 2025 @ 12:00pm. all 5 representatives from the South Kingstown Town Council as well as representatives from local and national legislative delegations, governor's office, South Kingstown Land Trust, and Town administration attended an official groundbreaking ceremony at the Perryville EMS construction site.   Town Manager Manni, Council President Rory McEntee, SK Land Trust Executive Director Julia Landstreet, and Chief of EMS Craig Stanley gave short speeches highlighting various aspects of the project to include the need for additional EMS services, funding, coordination, and ongoing efforts to construct the new station.  SK EMS staff who attended the ceremony were recognized for their extraordinary efforts in help save lives in the community.  Town Manager Manni highlighted the fact that the Town is in the process of adding 8 new EMS employees to staff the new station to ensure the prompt delivery of critical care services to the southern most parts of South Kingstown.  The event concluded with a ceremonial photo of the Town Council and other local, state and federal representatives donning hard hats and carrying golden shovels.
